Lyndon’s First Surgery

Lyndon had two bad ear infections back to back and apparently was never able to get rid of the fluid in his ears.  He could not hear.  At all.  We would say prayer at the dinner table and when we were done he would still have his eyes closed waiting for us to begin.  I seriously started doing some baby sign language to him sometimes, we were getting really worried.  This went on for about a month before the audiologist recommended tubes.

On May 5th Lyndon had his first surgery to have tubes put in his ears and an adenoidectomy.

The first picture is of him playing in the waiting room at Texas Children’s Hospital.  They had lots of toys, fish tanks, puzzles, books, coloring pages and stuff to play with and keep you occupied.  A woman came out after he got his cool pajamas on with a kit and pictures to show everything to him so he wouldn’t be scared.  He got to choose a “flavor” for his gas scent, he chose banana. He was very brave and didn’t seem worried at all.  He was looking forward to being able to hear again.

He did really well.  It took him forever to wake up from his anesthesia, just like his Mom.  Soon he was able to keep a popsicle down so he got to go home.  With a barf bag in his hand.  Because he is like his Mom.

When we were waiting for Lyndon to come out of surgery we noticed all the other nice parents had brought gifts for their kids, we were feeling a little sheepish.  Those were also the parents that had remembered cameras and were not taking pictures with their phone.  So, Clint went to the gift shop and bought a Transformers and Batman balloon along with a yo-yo.  I kid you not, that Transformer balloon lasted for MONTHS.  WAY longer than the yo-yo.

We also were able to find out that he is now allergic to Amoxicillin:

 

Poor kid.

He can now hear great and we know that he is usually choosing to ignore us.  He also no longer snores!
